Guest Artist ~ Lisa Somerville!

I'd like to share a creation by Lisa Somerville. Not only is she talented, she is a wonderful friend. Lisa doesn't have a blog. She is busy elsewhere on the web, especially with her contributions to www.patstamps.com and concept design work for Lasting Impressions with Panache and Innovative Stamp Creations.

Lisa's SCS gallery is here if you'd like to check out her work.

Even though Lisa doesn't blog, I really wanted to feature some of her art here on my blog because she is really talented.

Here is a lovely spring card in which Lisa shared with me:

Lisa says:

The coloring on the image itself is done with watercolor crayons and the aquapainter. (stamped image in stazon let dry, then placed and outline on my image with the watercolor crayons and then used the aquapainter to draw the color inward)

The background coloring on the cardstock behind the image is done with the Spritz and Flick Technique from the 02/07 TJNL (VERY EASY to do)

I love the open image stamps - as I find them very accommodating to different techniques. When I created the background for this card I was going for a soft spring like feel - as I knew what stamp I wanted to use as my focal image, and thought they came together well. I matted my card in Regal Rose to draw attention to my focal image, then again under my spritz cardstock. To further pull into the card, I added the Celery base cardstock which coordinated with my card and gave it a finished look.

Thank you Lisa! Your colors on this card are stunning. I'll be trying this technique for certain.

Guest Artist ~ Vanessa Farkas!

I was recently approached by Vanessa Farkas, blogger at "Beauty for Ashes" who asked if I'd be a guest blogger on her blog. I was thrilled with the idea, but since I've never "Guest Blogged" before, wasn't sure what to expect... so I decided to ask her to guest blog for me too!

This was fun! Although I think the card she sent me to post here is much prettier than the one I provided her. I should have sent her a much better card to post after seeing her creation... maybe next time!

Here is Vanessa's beautiful card:

Stamp Set: Wild Rose
Sage Shadow, Barely Banana, Whisper White Cardstocks
S. Shadow, B. Banana, Certainly Celery Ink Pads
Versamark Pad
Gold Embossing Powder
Square Steps Corner Punch
Enchante Paper
Sentiment is from Beautiful Beach Stamp Set
Cream Grosgrain Ribbon

What an unexpected privilege it turned out to be for me when I invited Michelle Laycock to be a guest on my blog. Not only was I surprised when she said, "Yes!" But then, she invited me to be a guest on hers! Suddenly I felt like the simple country girl from the hills that I am! I might have 50 viewers on my blog and Michelle's is in the "TOP 50!" Not to mention her affiliation with SplitCoastStampers and the elite 'Dirty Dozen' art team.
I am a newcomer to Stampin' Up! and was previously with CTMH for 4 years. People always ask me about the other company and I tell them they are like apples and oranges. Great diversity that is good for the stamping industry. I am truly enjoying SU! and love their products. The PEOPLE in this organization rock :)
I am not working outside the home at this time but play Grandma a lot instead. It's just the best, I highly recommend grandchildren! When I did/do work I am a nurse.
My husband is a retired US Marine and we have been blessed to live on both coasts. He retired at the ripe old age of 40 so still works as a Civilian with the Army now.
We live in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of SW Missouri. I grew up in the Ozark Heritage Region, otherwise known as, "The Tooleys" :)
Thank you, Michelle, for having me on! Thank you all for looking and God's abundant blessings to everyone.

Vanessa, your card is very elegant and the extra detail you added to the roses shows you strive to excel in stamping. I love the touch of Enchante Designer Series paper and the Square Steps "lace" you made with that punch. Lovely color choice as well. Sage Shadow is one of my all-time favorite colors.

Thanks so much for agreeing to be a guest blogger!
